Façades

The installation consists of: 2 x (slide-projectors, white plastic sideboards, pile of 10 plastic chairs, screens, wires) Its a double projection and on each side a different language. All stand on a 4m x 20m green carpet. Slides beneath, background photo fom Gran Canaries 1983.

Material and info: The interior / exterior is the same as the one often used in Mediterranean holiday resorts and hotel areas. It's very genuine and tells a lot about time and culture and I was using it trying to talk about Genuine contra Genuine, Authentic contra Authentic, values, values and values and tourism.

The text is here as the whole installation fictive, made up and constructed, but it is here and real in the art world - the world. Façades is about tourism and travel climate. How we in our longing for the real and the genuine in the travels may preserve instead of develop what we for the moment consider as the so called real, primitive or genuine. Who is the one to decide what to keep, save, preserve and reserve and for whom?
